School Reunion Outfit

top - h&m

belt - christmas present (can’t be bothered to take it off right now to find the brand…)

skirt - Zara (possibly the smartest thing I own)

Where did that tiger come from??? Sooo I am home at my parent’s house (hence the tiger I refuse to get rid of) for a brief holiday before I head out to the United States of America! I will be travelling from Louisiana to Oregon (along the bottom and up the West Coast). All I can say is that if I take any outfit shots out there expect shorts, because it looks hot as hell.

ANYWAYS today is my school reunion. But for my primary school! Not high school …good lord not sure how that would go down. This is what I decided on, it’s meant to be outside (the weather looks a bit iffy though..) So i’m probably going to belt a big cardigan over this. Looking back at my other posts here what I notice is that I really like belting things in aaaand I have put on weight… I’m also not wearing any shoes because I couldn’t decide between boots and my new acid wash Vans. I’m leaning towards the vans right now, I don’t really do smart..

So after a lot of time it’s become apparent i don’t have a lot of time for taking photos amongst the normal lengthy amounts of time i spend on tumblr and painting and working. So i’ve decided just to post when I can.

I wore this outfit the day after it snowed in a long and determined attempt to make it to Columbia Road Flower Market. I ended up with three bunches of flowers (including some ill fated but beautiful fresias and mimosa, which is new to me!) and a Camelia that is just starting to bloom. I would have taken more pictures at the market but there wasn’t a great deal of stalls. Due to either the snow or the fact that it might just be quieter in the winter months. Either way it was worth it, and this outfit kept me pretty toasty!

on time

hat- vintage (Camden Market)

sheer shirt- Bugis Market

necklaces- my grandmother’s and found in the back of my drawer

shorts- levis (vintage via Rokit)

belt- new look

socks(you can just about see the little dots on them)- Muji

loafers- office

Whoa so it’s wierd to actually update regularly, wierd in a good way though! This is what i wore to brave the Singapore heat an run errands with my dad as well as totally stuff myself on amazing sushi and the biggest bowl of chawanmushi i’ve ever seen. I thought the sheer shirt would keep my cool (i have a camisole on underneath) but nope, It’s a wierd material, but i still like it so never mind. I bought it on my annual trek to Bugis Market. An amazing 3 floored covered building that’s like Camden meets Portobello Road. Expect to see more items from my shopping trip as I think i did pretty well.

take it easy

so these were taken more or less on the day before my life more or less turned rubbish and i could still happily get along with the less than stellar British summer this year. I will spare you the details but despite currently being in Singapore I have little drive for blogging or much else to be honest. But it will come back, with time.

Time is an interesting topic considering the items i’m wearing here.I noticed a lot of girls wearing tshirts from bands like Metallica and Iron Maiden to festivals like Glastonbury. And i know these aren’t the kind of girls that really listen to bands like this. Is this a trend that has passed me by? Either way it inspired me to dig out my old tour shirt from Monsters of Rock. Which i can say with pride, back when i was about 17 i thoroughly enjoyed!

I also used to own a pair of knee high doc martens back then but they are the most incredibly solid things (not to mention being a size too big) but i bought these short ones brand new back when i first moved to uni and they are FINALLY not giving me blisters. 3 years seems to be the most appropriate breaking in time for Doc Martens.

tshirt- Monsters of Rock festival 2006

short- Pull and Bear

socks- Topshop

boots- Doc Martens (Old Boot Company Camden)

oops…

so here’s my LAME excuse for a lack of updates. So i recently moved from London back to my parents’ following my graduation (!!!). After two days of packing and finally getting it all packed into my stepdad’s car i got a phone call from my boyfriend. I left my camera on the lounge table. My camera is HUGE so i really am just the most forgetful person you could ever come accross. So Rob thankfully hung onto it for me and I went down to the coast to pick it up.

But before then i was given an interview for a possibly commision. My mother pointed out i own very few smart clothing (i’m a design student..everything i own is ripped, old, battered or covered in glue) and took my out to pick up some smart clothes as a graduation present. This wonderful skirt was one of those things! (excuse the blackberry pics)

silk top- from a little shop on the high street in Woburn Sands

belt- taken from a dress from Laden Showroom

skirt- Zara

boots- topshop

headscarf- vintage (Beyond Retro)

i thought i should at least try to include a picture from Iceland even if i was bundled up in my coat and jeans all the time! I realised this picture of me up a small mountain with the steamy blue lagoon in the background should do the trick, specially since you can see my wonderful dusky pink lopapeysa. Lopapeysas are icelandic jumpers originating from before the 20th century. You can find some beautiful ones but they are normally waaay too much money. I found mine in the Red Cross charity shop, for once my lack of height worked for me as it’s actually a kid’s one an therefore much cheaper!

summer rain

ah sorry for the lack of updates! I was hoping to have lots of warm wooly outfits from Iceland to post, we were actually told it should be between 8-10 degrees which is totally handlable. It was more like 2 degrees and i was bundled up in my coat, leggings and jeans. I have maaaybe a couple of things but otherwise since i came back i’ve been bumming around. However yesterday i decided to put in a little bit more effort an i plan on keeping up the momentum for as long as i can so i feel more inclined to take photos for this little blog.

jacket - forever 21

shirt - vintage aquascutum

belt - boyfriend’s

shorts- vintage Levis (Rokit)

tights- johnathon aston

desert boots - amazing ebay find!

SO here is what i wore yesterday to run errands, start getting the house packed up as i just graduated so we’re trying to get everything as clear and clean as possible, and to go pick up some film i took (where i got fantastically rained on, so please excuse my hair!) and to renew my paper collection as my final project kinda drained it

on with the show

well that’s it! I’m a graduating illustration student. I can’t believe it’s over! It’s been a stressful and incredibly fullfilling three years. Here’s a couple of pictures of my little display. I restocked my business cards twice so lets hope at least one of them has gone to someone who can give me a job.

we had a creative industry view and a private view for friends and family and I decided to dress up for it (as far as i tend to dress up).

dress- zara

belt- taken from a dress from the Laden Showroom

hand clip- tatty devine

suede brogues- toast

I remember talking to a few of my friends about trawling around for a decent dress and i think i pulled out a good one here. It actually has a very low back but is made of this very stiff durable material. There also aren’t a lot of occasions that call for my big sparkly Tatty Devine hand clip so it’s always nice to pull it out for something fun like this.

spring weather?

top- pomodoro (bought from the big garden centre where i used to work)

shorts- vintage levi (Rokit covent garden)

belt- new look

socks- john lewis

i think it might finally be safe to go out without tights even if the sky is a bit grey. These shorts are just what I wanted for when the weather finally got better. They’re vintage altered to have turn ups. They have a large leather levi lable on the back that says “silver tab.” I decided to google this, and while i’m sure they’re must be a women’s division what came up was a kind of jean made for men who work out alot so they have large muscular thighs and skinny waists. It works well for my hour glass figure if they are indeed those jeans! This is just a quick one as up until last monday i was crazy busy. I graduate soon an monday was my final deadline (which goes someway to explaining why i look so tired here). So now it’s nearly all over. I just have to get my show pieces reprinted an resized an rescanned. Just finishing touches really. I’m sure it’ll take me longer than i plan but it’s nice to not be so stressed out.

from Beyond Retro

I actually celebrated finishing by buying myself a little treat. I’ve posted a few outfits with my beloved moccasins, unfortunately they’re on their way out. Wearing cheap suede shoes to get round South America and in Brazilian rain probably wasn’t the best idea. I love them but they are now developing holes so i decided to go for a new style an grabbed these lovelies while i was out looking for an outfit for my degree show.

Beautiful Bairro Alto

this was one of my favourite days in Lisbon. Bairro Alto is a beautiful place. Every street is a stunning mess of historical buildings all joined together and set high up on a hill. Bairro Alto i think means “higher district”. Which makes sense as the trams and tram lines in these pictures are to help people actually get up to Bairro Alto. I wish we had taken one but we trekked up instead. (also i think they were kind of expensive).

straw boater- vintage (Ampthill Antiques Emporium secured with a vintage hat pin from there)

silk an lace top- ebay (i thought it was dress as it’s pretty long but it turns out the model from the ebay shop was a good foot shorter than me ..i’m only 5,3)

skirt- h&m

plimsols(which need replacing after this trip)- victoria

satchel- artisian market in Chile

Unfortunately we were only in Lisbon during the week so didn’t get to experience Bairro Alto at night. Apparently the tiny streets are totally overflowing with people coming from all the stunning little bars filled with Fado and other kinds of interesting music. Portugese friends have since told me they buy these amazing pink fruity alcoholic drinks when they go out in Bairro Alto that they can’t get anywhere else. I don’t think i need more of an excuse to go back!

A bit of Pink

headband- Angelic Pretty (magical etoile series)

cardigan-belonged to my grandmother

lace top- bought in Bugis Market (Singapore)

shorts- vintage, cut down from jeans years ago

socks- Angelic Pretty (royal poodle series)

mocassins- accessorize

My word so i actually have a backlog of saved photos ready for this blog! It’s nice to have things ready to go for once. This outfit’s a little more girly than i’ve worn for a long time but a good friend invited me out an I knew there would be a few of my old lolita friends there so I wanted to put in a bit of the old lolita style somwhere. I wish i had gone the whole hog with petticoats an everything but there’s still time for that. I was worried that when i sold the majority of my lolita clothing in order to go travelling that i wouldn’t be able to attend meetups anymore but it was so nice to know that i’m still very much welcome : )
